Amanda Beck teaches German at William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Indiana. Amanda is the 2024 Central States Languages for All Teacher of the Year; the 2022 Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association Teacher of the Year; a 2023 Indiana Department of Education Teacher of the Year Top 10 Finalist; and was selected to join the 2024-25 Indiana University Armstrong Teacher Educator Award cohort.
Amanda believes strongly in the power of building personal connections with students and seeks to build proficiency and cultural competence through creative lessons that heavily feature play and fun. Amanda has been active in leadership for the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association and the American Association of Teachers of German Indiana Chapter and is also her building's World Language Department Chair and sponsor of the German Club, the German Quiz Bowl team, and the Senior Class.
As a passionate advocate for the power of student exchanges, Amanda has led seven exchange trips through the German American Partnership Program with the Karl Friedrich Gymnasium in Mannheim, Germany, and enjoys watching students grow both as language speakers and as people.
