Cate is a Foreign Affairs Officer, managing an international exchange program in the State Department's Office of Citizen Exchanges.
Having begun with a bachelor's degree in German, through military service, graduate study and into government service, Cate's life has been enriched at every stage by language.
She believes the more global our lives become, the more important it will be to ensure our young people have opportunities to learn languages, opening doors for them around the world and in our own communities.
