After completing her training at the University of Chicago and The Ohio State University, Lopa Pandya is a pelvic reconstructive surgeon at UI Health. Dr. Pandya specializes in treating pelvic floor disorders, urinary issues, and pelvic organ prolapse, with clinical interests including minimally invasive surgery, surgical outcomes, and improving patients' quality of life.
Pandya regularly uses English, Gujarati, and Spanish language skills in her work to better serve patients in her multicultural community. She explains:
“Speaking different languages allows me to provide culturally sensitive care and explain diagnoses and treatment options in a more thorough way. Over and over again, I see the relief on a patient's face when I am able to communicate in their primary language. Nothing can replace that.”
As an undergraduate student of biology and psychology at Saint Louis University, Pandya studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. She pursued her medical studies at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
