What advice or message would you like to share with fellow future language educators?

As future language educators, never underestimate the role we play in our students' lives. Language is not just about grammar and vocabulary; it's a lifeline for expression, connection, and opportunity. Many students may face challenges beyond the classroom, and the safe, inclusive, and empowering space we create through language learning and cultural exchange can be a turning point for them. Commit to being compassionate, culturally responsive, and relentless in the belief that every student belongs and deserves an education.

What makes an amazing language educator?

An amazing language educator is a bridge between cultures. They don’t just teach words—they open windows into new ways of thinking, living, and understanding the world. Through cultural exchange, they help students see language as an experience shaped by identity, history, and tradition. The best language educators foster curiosity, empathy, and global awareness. They create a classroom where differences are celebrated, connections are made, and students grow not just as language users but as open-minded citizens of the world.

The support and recognition from the program made me feel valued as an emerging educator. They motivated me to give my best in every lesson, every practicum, and every student interaction. It strengthened my commitment to making a difference—and reminded me that with the right support, future teachers can truly thrive and inspire.
