I had the opportunity to teach at an International School in Madrid, Spain for a month during the summer, which not only helped me improve my proficiency in Spanish and cultural understanding, but provided me with an opportunity to see how two languages could be utilized in a school and community. I am also very grateful for the work I did with my Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Program. Working with refugees, adult-learners, foreign exchange students, and learners of all ages and cultures, taught me how to work with diverse groups of people and provided me with a foundation of practical knowledge in second language acquisition.

You will have a profound impact on all who surround you, you will be your students' liaison into a bigger world, make your impact a positive one.

The Teacher Scholarship Program truly helped support my educational journey and made it possible to focus fully on becoming an informed language educator and building the necessary skills by lowering my financial burden while perusing a higher education. Furthermore, this program has provided me with access to professional communities and resources that have improved my understanding of teaching languages and will continue to help support and inform me as I enter my first year of teaching.
