Darya Chernina

Born and raised in Russia, Darya Chernina has shown passion for all things linguistic from an early age. Singing along to ABBA and Mireille Matthieu songs coming from her parents’ vinyl records, she could not have known that one day she would be able not just to understand those lyrics, but to read world’s literary masterpieces in the languages they were written and speak with ease to people on the streets of London, Paris and Barcelona. Darya began her study of foreign languages at the age of nine, around the same time as she began writing poetry in her native Russian.

With a career spanning many industries, Darya’s fluency in Russian, English, French and Spanish has served her in every role she has held. She has enhanced global product experience for multiple brands by successfully deploying data-driven strategy and processes and implementing custom localization software solutions. She also developed and grew language services operation from the ground up to support a portfolio of language services and products generating millions of dollars in revenue. Additionally, a certified ESL instructor, Darya pioneered Russian language curriculum for one of New York City’s top adult language schools, partnering with the creator of the Russian Step By Step learning system, Natasha Alexandrova.

She currently serves as an Associate Director on the Human-AI Learning Operations team at Dataminr. She is a dedicated servant leader that builds high performance/high accountability teams and is an avid advocate for working parents, having founded and led parents’ employee resource groups in two organizations.

A recipient of Claudine Grey Prize for Excellence in Study of Romance Languages, Darya holds a degree in Romance Languages and Literatures from CUNY Hunter College and an MBA in Finance from Walden University. She lives in New York City with her family.
